Advancing Healthcare Through Innovative Medical Technologies
|
Our Strategic Framework and Policy Priorities
MEDEC works collaboratively with our partners in government and the healthcare system to advance our board-established policy priorities, which are:
- To enhance the overall quality of patient care.
- To improve patient access to effective medical technologies for the purposes of diagnosing, monitoring and treating diseases and medical conditions.
- To support the growth of a vibrant medical technology industry and contribute to Canada’s innovation economy.
- To support the sustainability of our publicly-funded health care system.
To achieve these policy priorities, MEDEC has established four strategic pillars that guide our association’s efforts. These pillars are:
SUPPORTING CANADIAN INNOVATION
- Facilitate sharing of industry best practices to support success of national and Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME).
- Devise research and commercialization investment strategies to accelerate growth of a world-class innovation cluster in Canada.
DEMONSTRATING THE VALUE OF TECHNOLOGY
- Work with government to adopt timely, transparent and comprehensive Health Technology Assessment processes.
- Showcase medical technology’s critical role to patient care, health system sustainability and to the overall economy.
PROMOTING STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT
- Work with government to implement effective national and regional procurement strategies to ensure timely access to medical technology.
SHAPING THE CANADIAN ENVIRONMENT
- Collaborate with government and other healthcare partners on strategies to achieve a globally competitive Canadian healthcare environment that enables patient access to innovative medical technologies, enhances Canada’s world-class research and development capacity and grows the Canadian economy.
