MEDEC is the national association created by and for the Canadian medical technology industry. MEDEC is the primary source for advocacy, information and education on the medical technology industry for members, the greater healthcare community, industry partners and the general public. Our goals are to advance health outcomes for patients in Canada and the growth and vibrancy of the industry in Canada. We focus on ensuring access to proven, safe technology and new, innovative medical technology developed by our member companies.
Building relationships, providing a strong voice on business issues and acting as a liaison with both federal and provincial governments, key stakeholders, industry partners and the public. Promoting the industry and bringing forward key messages through active engagement and involvement with stakeholders.
Industry’s liaison and advocacy group with Health Canada and other federal and provincial regulators. Addressing issues and providing advice related to Medical Device Regulations in Canada including medical device funding and reimbursement; performance of Therapeutic Products Directorate, Health Canada; health protection legislative renewal, cost recovery/user fees, quality systems (ISO 13485), device reuse, health technology assessment; environmental regulation of Medical Devices (Canadian Environment Protection Act (CEPA), Chemicals Management Plan, provincial stewardship regulations.
Education and Information
Identifying, informing and acting to find solutions on issues that are specific or cut across the industry through timely information and education activities, relevant forums and shared advice, access, networking and support.

Sector groups, regional and functional committees that are patient-focused bring our members together in a strengthened presence to address common business issues and to develop and support relevant objectives and initiatives. MEDEC provides secretariat support.
