MEDEC is the national association created by and for the Canadian medical device industry. MEDEC members are committed to advancing healthcare in Canada by ensuring patients have access to safe medical device technologies. Types of MembershipFull MembershipApplies to companies engaged in the manufacturing and/or distribution of medical device and diagnostic products in Canada. Full members receive all benefits of membership, including voting privileges, information services, access to educational programs and seminars at a reduced cost, annual membership directory and eligibility to sit on the Board of Directors. Dues are based on prior year's domestic sales. Allied Business MembershipApplies to consultants and services providers to the medical device industry. Allied Business members pay an annual flat fee, and receive the same benefits as full members, excluding voting privileges and eligibility to sit on the Board of Directors. Associate MembershipApplies to not for profit organizations that are valued partners of MEDEC and offer value to members. Associate members pay a flat annual fee, and receive the same benefits as full members, excluding voting privileges and eligibility to sit on the Board of Directors. MEDEC membership is voluntary and MEDEC members are expected to adhere to the MEDEC Code of Ethics and to comply with its by-laws. Comments and testimonials from our Members and Stakeholders

MEDEC as an association has been growing quite steadily over the past several years, and in the next few years, we see the association being even bigger, because we bring to the market very innovative products that will benefit
MEDEC works in several ways: we work closely with our Regulatory Committee to put forward suggestions and policy papers to government about what they should be doing. We work very closely with Health Canada, the Medical Devices Bureau and with their Director and Deputy Director to influence and advocate on behalf of the medical device industry in Canada to ensure patients get access to the latest and best technology.
Companies who display the MEDEC Code of Conduct symbol are demonstrating their leadership and commitment to this high standard of business practices. These are the companies that Healthcare Professionals will prefer to interact with.
We are committed to the best interests of patients and as a Charter Licensee, we have embraced the MEDEC Code of Conduct as a 'patient-first' guide to ethical standards in the Canadian medical device industry.
The primary concern of MEDEC is to promote better health for all Canadians, in the most cost effective, ethical manner possible.
For anyone thinking of participating in the Canadian Medical Device Industry Online Certificate program, I highly recommend it. If you work within the healthcare industry already, then you should be aware of the fact that the regulatory changes encompass social and economic issues as well as safety and efficacy. This program will allow you to dig a little deeper into these risk management issues, and perhaps gain a better insight into the entire healthcare system from both a social and political perspective to the science of health itself.
