Ontario Healthcare System Lags in Occupational Health and Safety – ONA
Ontario Nurses Association (ONA) President Linda Haslem-Stroud says Ontario healthcare facilities lag decades behind the rest of the workforce and fail to meet even the minimum health and safety standards. ONA is calling for the provincial government to implement 58 recommendations because of the benefits to RNs and patients. Recommendations include established training standards for all. The ONA claims that the occupational health and safety criteria should be built into accountability agreements, physician privileges, and performance standards for health care employers, officers, directors and managers.
