B.C. Promises Family Doctors for All
The B.C. government is promising everyone in the province that they will have a family doctor by the year 2015. Health Minister Kevin Falcon states that this is a pledge in part of a $137-million overhaul of the primary health-care system where special medical teams will be set up to co-ordinate care. These teams, which target frail seniors and those with chronic diseases, would include a family physician, specialists, nurses and pharmacists. Falcon says this can drastically improve patient care.
