About Medec

MEDEC is the national association created by and for the Canadian medical device industry. MEDEC is the primary source for advocacy, information and education on the medical device industry for members, the greater healthcare community, industry partners and the general public. Our goals are to advance health outcomes for patients in Canada and the growth and vibrancy of the industry in Canada. We focus on ensuring access to proven, safe technology and new, innovative medical technology developed by our member companies.

Advocacy

Building relationships, providing a strong voice on business issues and acting as a liaison with both federal and provincial governments, key stakeholders, industry partners and the public. Promoting the industry and bringing forward key messages through active engagement and involvement with stakeholders.

Regulatory Affairs

Industry’s liaison with Health Canada. Providing advice and addressing issues like global harmonization of regulatory requirements, inspection programs, medical device funding and reimbursement, Therapeutic Products Directorate performance, health protection legislative renewal, quality systems (ISO 13485), device reuse, cost recovery/user fees, health technology assessment.

Education and Information

Identifying, informing and acting to find solutions on issues that are specific or cut across the industry through timely information and education activities, relevant forums and shared advice, access, networking and support.

MEDEC Sectors and Committees

Sector groups, regional and functional committees that are patient-focused bring our members together in a strengthened presence to address common business issues and to develop and support relevant objectives and initiatives. MEDEC provides secretariat support.
